Xbox 360 Elite Laptop

10 02 2008

That’s right folks — it’s the Xbox 360 Elite laptop. We’re not even going to try and pretend to understand how an individual could go about creating this kind of extreme mod to the Microsoft console — needless to say that if there was one man who could do it, Ben is that guy. Luckily for us lay-people, he’s included a graphic breakdown of just about every step on the road to a portable Xbox 360, replete will all the case cracking, innards opening, wire splaying photos you could possibly want or need

Wow, that guy really pushed the limits…

10 02 2008

Yes, that’s right, the 1.50kernel add-on V2 is here for 3.90M33. Here is the readme:

Instructions. Copy to /PSP/GAME and run.

Changes:

  • - TA086: when being in 4th brightness level and recovering from sleep mode, the display was black. Fixed.
  • - Added support in the 1.50 kernel for memory sticks greater than 4 GB. (I finally got my 8GB card! :D)
  • Before, only the first 4 GB portion was recognized by the 1.5 kernel.
Now, the theroetical limit is 4GB*512 = 2 Terabytes. (”only” 1 TB, if sony were using signed variables).

360 HD DVD player price drop

9 02 2008

HD-DVD playerThe Xbox 360 HD DVD player attachment has just a price drop; from $179.99 to $129.99.

New York (dbTechno) - Microsoft has officially dropped the price of the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player from $179.99 to $129.99.

The new price will go into effect immediately in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

This has sweetened the deal greatly for Xbox 360 owners looking for an HD DVD player.

This is because the 5 free HD DVD offer is still valid.

This means that for $129.99 you get the official Microsoft Xbox 360 HD DVD player, along with 5 free HD DVD movies, not bad at all!

This could be a sign of Microsoft really trying to push HD DVD player sales to get a larger installed user base to compete with the Blu-ray format, which is winning thanks to the fact that the Sony PS3 has a built-in Blu-ray player.

CSPSP 1.5 released!

8 02 2008

A new version of the 2D PSP homebrew, CSPSP, has just been released by nataku. Here are some words from the developer:

- v1.5 UPDATE-

I finally had time to finish up v1.5 for release! The biggest feature is probably online infrastructure, but I’m not sure how the system will perform under heavy usage (so don’t be too surprised if something doesn’t work :O). I’ve also made quite a few other smaller changes, which can be found in this complete list of updates:

Quite a few changes have been made. A major one is the addition of infrastructure.

Vacation/Possible no new themes for a week.

8 02 2008

Hi everybody.

I am leaving later tonight to go on holiday and I won’t be here for a week unless I have internet access at the hotel I am staying at. If I do have internet access, I’ll be posting a few themes every day. If I don’t have internet access, well, you’ll know as I won’t be posting themes. :P
Remember, we currently have about 250 themes on the site. So please don’t be bothered if you are not seeing new themes on the site daily, you already have a massive selection to choose from, such as the abstract section, games section and the glossy section!

So… have fun choosing themes and playing on your PS3.

Cya soon.

Resistance 2: Fall 2008?

8 02 2008

We waited a long time for the sequel to Resistance, the sci-fi shooter on the PlayStation 3. According to a preview from 1Up, it looks like the game isn’t in any danger of being delayed so we won’t have to wait any longer than we have to.

According to the preview, Resistance 2’s single-player maps and the co-op campaign are already running thanks to a new initiative from the developers:

Unbelievable as it may seem, Insomniac claims that more or less all of the single-player maps are finished and running in a rough state. This is largely due to a new initiative from the developer that has them focusing on building the gameplay first and then adding art assets and balance tweaks later. Large portions of the co-op campaign are also confirmed to be running, so that fall 2008 release date is looking pretty much like a certainty now.

This is certainly welcome news since Resistance 2 is a pretty ambitious project. In the initial announcement of its release, Resistance 2 has been revealed to have 8-man co-op and supports up to a whopping 60 players in multiplayer mode.

Even if the game isn’t delayed, we still have to wait though. For what? A precise date of release of course. Check back for updates!

PlayStation 3: Game disc EBOOT.BIN decrypted!

6 02 2008

As some recent events indicate, the community is beginning to make headway in cracking open Sony’s PlayStation 3 console. The PS3News site’s dev has announced that they have successfully decrypted ELF file from a PS3 game disc. Quoting CJPC’s post regarding the details:

This removes BOTH the disc layer of encryption on the EBOOT.BIN, as well as the file layer of encryption.

Aside from the announcement, the dev team also states that they’ve successfully downgraded a PS3 without using a previous flash dump backup. That’s all the information we’ve picked up so far regarding this ongoing project. Drop by again in case we receive word of any related updates.
